Politicians in Britain are set into 3 elected categories;
MP's: Members Of Parliament (Represent their constituency in Westminister)
MSP's: Members of Scottish Parliament (Represent their constituency in Hollyrood)
MEP's:Members Of European Parliament (Represent their constituents in Brussels)

Local Councillors are not directly elected by constituents but by the authority in charge of a constituency...i.e. A Liberal Democrat constituency MP has A Liberal Democrat appointed Council, who will then elect officials. Hope this helps.

Kettle?? Haha, no it's North-East Fife mate. Our MP is Menzies Campbell. In Glenrothes..which is a bigger constituency therefore has a different MP, it's Lindsay Roy.
Constituencies aren't all equal sizes however; they are generally split according to population size;
There are 645 MP's in Parliament.
